If you are searching for the perfect gift i’ve found it

Where: www.thinkgeek.com
How much: $6.99
Now I know you’re thinking chocolates, candies, flowers, possibly even diamonds. But my sweet Valentine you’d be wrong. The only thing I want in the world is a plushie Kirk and Spock to call my own (and occasionally re-enact all my homo erotic fan scripts).
So, you know, be my Valentine. Buy me plushies. I might put out (after all, I am a lady)

I’m not discounting 2010 as shit, but it has thrown us some curve balls that I’m not particularly fond of. The newest in a line of crap things was the storm that managed to soak two and half rooms in my house with water. Not like full on flooded rooms, just the underlay and carpet wet.
So half of the house is in the other half and Luke and I have been sleeping on the couches in order to get the back rooms to dry with the aircon and fans going non stop since Saturday.
We also got some water coming in from the old airconditioner in the dining room. So dad and I dug out the trench around the house for the water to run off (which it is still a rapid) Dad fixed the gutters to find that the back half of the house has rusted through, so we need to replace that plus think of a far more logical drainage system for the house. The carpets will either need to be professionally dried or replaced. And Luke’s painting from Thailand has gotten a sag in it which we are hoping with unsagify itself when the humidity lowers. AND because we’ve seen no sun for the last week our solar hot water isn’t really hot. I don’t know whether there is something wrong with the electrical mechanism in it that heats it when there has been no sun.
So yes, I’m feeling a little maudlin and sore from all the rage digging, furniture moving and attempting to share a one seater and two ottamans with two very annoying adorable cats.

Normally I never have any clue what to search for on Etsy. I sit there for ages looking at the front screen going ‘hmmm….. hmmmmmm’ (I have the same problem trying to waste time on eBay). But thanks to the lovely team of bloggers at Modcloth (www.modcloth.com) I found Epicute (www.epicute.com) which blogs about the best looking food items in the world. So after feeling hungry for ages I came across a post about food jewellery.
Which brings me back round to Etsy! Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you, my list of favourite food related jewellery.

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lavatomato
Price: $18
I actually don’t eat sushi. I mean I have. It’s not my first choice of things to eat in a food court, but I love how fantastic this piece looks. I actually want to eat this. I love how delicate the grains of rice are.

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/roscata
Price: $34.00
Keeping with the sushi theme I love this pendant – Especially the chopsticks. It amuses me and I want a handbag to hang it off.

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/pokkuru
Price: $15.00
I would buy everything from this shop. It’s just so tasty. That berrette makes me want to lick the screen in its deleciousness. ANOMNOMNOM

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AllForJasmine
Price: $10.00
My favourite sweet things in the world are always tart. And I LOVE lemon merengue pie. Something about the lemon curd and the fluffy merengue and the crisp of the pastry. This pendant is just so good looking. I love that squiggle of merengue on top. Oh for some pie right now!

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PetitPlat
Price: $16.00
How good does that croissant look? It’s just delecious and I’ve always thought my hair could be more delecious!

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/OneElf
Price: $8.00
Mmmmm toast. I just want this on my person at all times. That butter!!!! It’s heaven.

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AllForJasmine
Price: $9.00
I would lick my hand all day if I actually owned this ring.
Okay and now for the last thing I want to show you, which isn’t food related…well I spose it is, but still, the point is I WANT AN OOMPA LOOMPA DADDY AND I WANT ONE NOW!!!!!

Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CuteAbility
Price: $14.00
I can see myself on my deathbed with that necklace on. I would never take it off. I would name it Gareth and we’d frollick in fields of daffodils and make love under a moonlight sky. I would whisper sweet nothings into whatever constituted as an ear on an octopus.
If you haven’t guessed I’m now ravenous. I hope you are too. Misery loves company!!!

Harlo mein loverlies!
Okay so me ma and da are having their 30th Wedding Anniversary this year. Mum suggested having a 50’s cocktail party to celebrate. Also we’d both been looking for a project to sew together, because I, a big fat newbie, have no idea what I’m doing and my mum well she is the bee’s knees. PLUS we always wanted 50s dresses to go do the food shopping in. So it’s like three birds with one mighty big stone
So anyways now onto finding a pattern and working out a colour scheme and fabric. I’m pretty adamant I want something with sleeves because I’m tired of lack of sleeves on everything. Sleeves are my friends.
So here are a few styles I’ve found just on the Vintage Vogue site ( http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/vintage-vogue-pages-850.php ) that i’ve liked as a starting point.

What do you think? Any pattern ideas would be awesome! I really love the idea of finding a stonkingly big flower print but I also have to remember I’m a broke ass lady and must buy fabric according to budget.
So yes, stay tuned!

Are bliss when everyone is asleep except for me.
The only thing better is when Luke gets up and goes to buy me a coffee.
I’m still searching for a new car. We finally found out how much we’re getting back, now its the question of whether I spend a little more for the Renault Megane that I want or whether I look for something that fits into how much money I got back.
Decisions, decisions.
Hope y’all have a lovely weekend!

I got this dress from Target (also the little knitted bolero thing) for $15. That day (which was my fateful car crash day) Lara and I were in Spotlight and found this pattern of fabric which we both loved, but we didn’t love the jersey stretch (also it was $14.99 per metre) so we bypassed it and low and behold our Country Target has the same pattern but in a cotton for $15. Such a bargain. I also got a work dress for $10.

We went to my parents place for an Australia Day BBQ which was fun. The weather was exceptionally hot. I had the slowest fall ever from that suspended chair. I was swinging wildly around and the top half turned and got unbalanced and I was super slow motion grasping at air to keep my balance up. I grazed my arm on that brick wall and semi crushed one of Lara’s succulents (I still feel bad about that)

Also stupid faced photos are the basis of our relationship. Love ya Lucius!!!
Hope you Aussies had a fun sun filled day!!!

I put in a Modcloth order the day before they released this.
:lepout:
I got the cups from this set for Christmas off Mr and Mrs Salazar (which make me smile everytime i open my already bulging cup cupboard) but now I need the placemats to complete the set.
I hope they don’t sell out before I get another chance, or i’ll make my sad face all over the place. I’ll have to eat my dinner off one of my cats. I’m sure Sputnik would let me, he’s also wide enough to house a plate like a stable table.

Dear Blueboy,
I’m sorry to do this to you. You know I didn’t mean it.
If you look hard you can see where the incident occurred. I tried to turn right onto the highway.
Spectacular right?

I’ve got $60 to spend at Modcloth (Thanks to a very generous Secret Santa) and i’m contemplating buying this, but I’m undecided whether it will be flattering on my hefty heiny.
I’m pretty sure Lara would want me to buy something else, but YOU’RE NOT MY MOTHER! *snarf* (If anyone hasn’t guessed it actually is my mother being cute)
But I love that paperbag waist and that’s the best looking one i’ve seen in awhile. I just don’t know whether it would end up looking hefty. It’s the food court connundrum. Do I try something new that might suck and taste like old ballsack or do I go with the good ol’ faithful middle ground and end up never trying anything new.
Help me Obi-wan Ke-friends-I-adore! Yay or Nay?
EDIT: I bought it. Though I found it very difficult to pay $30 shipping for one item-stupid being on the other side of the world!! But I got a little money back from the Tragedy of my British Invasion coat (which is awaiting the loving devotion and time to fix the hole in the seam it developed after 1.5 hours of wear) Anyways the fact is – YAY – CLOTHES!!

I manage to cut three of my fingers yesterday in two attempts to slice stale bread. I promptly rage!threw out the bread and got nothing except a nice diagonal gash on my index finger. I was lucky I cut at such a strange angle because if i’d cut straight on it would of been close to the bone.
Other things on unimportance:
1.) I read Conferacy of Dunces last week and Everything is Illuminated this week (well i’m reading this week) I fully intend to make my way through all the Penguin Popular books at some point. Only 143 of them to go.
2.) I’m in love with Mad Men. So much so i’m going to get me one of them Joan Holloway pen necklaces from www.1928.com and start in search of a 60s dress pattern to wear to work. Not every day, just maybe like once a month. Luke and I keep joking about when I’ll be working for him and his awesome at home business and we’d have 60s Fridays where we’d wear our respective outfits and i’d bake him ham.
3.) Our air conditioner took a shit this weekend when it was decidedly too hot to be outside. We are hoping that its because the electrician has routed the hot water through the line for the air conditioning and its short circuiting it. Keep your fingers crossed.
Okay, thats it. I’m pretty sure that’s all I’ve got. Now to work on an Australia Day invite for Lara.
